Take 2 hours of intensive 1 on 1 Spanish lessons per day (this equals 10 hours per week). By intensive 1 on 1 me mean that these are private lessons where there is just you and your teacher. This course is offered for all levels of spanish. As with all our courses, there is no registration fee nor any hidden costs – you only have to pay the course fee wich is MXN $3200,- for the first week and MXN $2800,- for each additional week.

While there are a few ATMs in Mazunte and nearby villages, we recommend withdrawing cash in larger cities beforehand, as ATMs here may run out of cash or charge higher fees, and many businesses do not accept digital payments.

Frequently Asked Questions

Mazunte is a small village with a population of approximately 700 located on the Pacific Coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. The closest town is "Pochutla" and it is about halfway between Puerto Escondido and Huatulco. Find detailed information in the "how to get here" section.
Unlike most other Spanish schools in Mexico, we do not charge any registration fee and there is no hidden costs. The prices in our fee schedule are the final prices that you have to pay for your course.
Despite being a small village, Mazunte offers a wide range of accommodation options, starting at about MXN $200 per night for a bed in a mixed dorm room or MXN $300 per night for a simple double room in a family run "Posada". At the high-end there is almost no limits both in therms of luxury and pricing. We have a List with accommodation options and pricing for you here.
Given that most accommodation options in Mazunte are in fact family run "posadas" that offer a very small amount of guest rooms and have shared facilities like kitchen and common area - this already reflects what language schools in bigger cities sell as "home-stay". If you stay at one of these posadas you will be forced to engage with the family in Spanish on a daily basis. While do not explicitly offer such arrangements as "packages" we are happy to help you find this kind of accommodation or even make a reservation on your behalf.

Our goal is to make you feel comfortable and confident using the language in real-life situations right from the start.
Classes at Instituto Iguana are mostly conversational. We use our own educational materials, specifically designed for our students and based on local and cultural themes. This means you don't need to purchase additional textbooks. During the lessons, you'll receive printed materials and engage in practical exercises to reinforce what you've learned.
